Here’s a place where I’m not too confused about which word to use – can or may. I’d really like to help you if I may and we need to figure out if I can. There’s certain things I do well and others…let’s just say you don’t want me to work on your car outside of filling it up with gas. That being said, here’s some info below to help you figure out if I can/may be of assistance to you.
How to Hire Me
The three big questions people have coming to this section revolve around what I do, why hire me and how to hire me. Since 99.9% of my clients are referrals (I actually can NOT think of who the .1% is off the top of my head), you may already have heard lots of wonderful (hopefully) things about me and want to know the “how” part.
The best way is to Contact Me through this site and I’ll get back to you as fast as I can to set up a time to talk over the phone, in person or online. We can go over your goals, time frame and budget and see if they match up with mine. If the logistics work out we can work on the details as the project unfolds.
Actually another question people ask is “How much do you charge?” I almost always say it depends, which almost always is not enough of an answer even though it’s true. It really does depend on things like duration, complexity, and urgency. Again, contact me first to check and see if I’ll make a good fit and be able to contribute and we can figure out to make it work.
**NOTE: I have been known to work for food so if you have a really important project that I can contribute to don’t hesitate to contact me because you think you can’t afford it. If I can’t help you I’m sure we can find someone who can so make sure to ask.
What I Do:
There are two major things I do for my clients:
- I provide energetic, passionate presentations on various topics.
- I partner in a consultative relationship that contributes to a desired change.
Basically, I talk and I, uh, talk. Under the first “talk” category comes keynote conference presentations, seminars and breakout sessions, guest speaking for churches, specific training courses, and motivational messages for organizations and companies. I also do weddings and funerals but that’s for a different web page.
Topics include:
- Customer Service
- Leadership and Management Development
- Work-Life Balance
- Teamwork and Team-building
Group size can be small, large or extra large, front-line personnel, executives or mixed groups since each talk is custom designed for the group and the goal. In general the size of the group affects interaction and discussion. The smaller the group the more interaction can occur. For example, specific training workshops and sessions are best for groups of between 10-25 people. This allows for more discussion, learning and brain-sharing.
Sessions are energetic, active and highly participatory. Audience involvement assures each presentation is unique FOR that group! No canned, off the shelf, dusty deliveries here. And…No one falls asleep on my watch!
The talking that comes under the “Consulting,” tag is a little different. In general, consulting is a very broad term. My intention is to add and contribute ideas, approaches and services that provide value for my clients. These consults can be with individuals or small groups and can be with me facilitating or participating. Generally, if I’m talking about it I can consult on it.
I also work as a facilitator with my affiliate organization, SMS Research to provide
- Mock Juries
- Focus Groups
- Conflict Resolution and Negotiations
My goal as a speaker for your conference or as a consultant on your team is to contribute to you moving forward and achieving your goals.
Why Hire Me
Your decision to hire or not hire me should be based on
- Your belief that I can contribute to the goals and objectives you have and that the changes I could bring would be valuable for you and your organization.
- Your perception of fit. I could have the all the right shoes but if it doesn’t fit Cinderella won’t have a happy ending.
Understand that even though I’m a “contractor”, once I’m on board, my win is tied to your win. What this means for you is if I don’t think I’ll be able to contribute to the W column I’ll tell you straight up. I won’t sell you false goods or promises that I can’t deliver on. What goes around comes around and the world is too small a sphere for that.
My advice is to trust your gut and do you homework. Talk to people who have hired me and get their feedback. Also, ask me for evaluations (I have thousands of them scanned to my computer). Read them verbatim, uncensored, both good and bad, and get a feel from the participants perspective.
