WHAT?! Aaron has not just one Mac, but more at his house??? Truly, these must be the last days...(I'd love to hear HIS "Mac conversion" story and reasons!) So does he have an iPhone, too???

I just received an iPod Nano this past Christmas, and I love it. And I love the service I get at the Apple store (even though my iPod came from Costco). There's just something about the whole Apple experience that comes with the package.... Yup, I'm looking forward to the day when I can also have that "inner peace and tranquility" when I get my new Mac! One day....

As I reread your post, the part where you talked about software (and how you couldn't fathom why anyone would write software for only Macs back in your PC days) made me think of Guy Kawasaki (Apple's first "software evangelist" -- that was his actual job title, and he had to convince the software companies to design software for Apple when IBM was the Goliath of computers). Have you read any of his stuff or his blog? Anyway, with you likening your experience with Apple to a religious experience/conversion, I'm sure Guy Kawasaki would agree.

Hah! I remember the HCKB days when to say Mac was akin to saying Damn!#$ :) Now, look at all the macs in Aaron's HOUSE! Financially, I think of the mac along the total cost and peace of ownership. Yes, maybe (depending on what you get) they might be more upfront cost wise but down the road when you're not "pouring the $$$" into repairs that cost evens out. And even if it doesn't go dollar for dollar, the internal sense of peace I have with my mac can't be found in the pc world. It's like a spiritual monastic experience - almost ;)

I am starting to slowly (starting philosophically wise) get myself (and therefore my family) back into the "Mac Ohana!" I was totally Mac until I started working at HCKB (back then, they viewed Mac as the "antichrist" haha!). So when I stumbled upon your blog post, I totally appreciated it. (It's hard, though, when surviving on only one income, to afford Macs during this season of life! But I think once we convert over, we'll be saving money over the long run -- and not keep pouring $$$ into SuperGeeks every time one of our computers goes kaput.)
