Nice Things People Say

“Kaala’s ability to seamlessly merge western best practice with Hawaiian values and concepts is amazing. The numbers don’t lie. At our Kamehameha Schools leadership conference Kaala’s workshop was rated the highest of all our breakout speakers and the ongoing trainings he does for us are always well attended and evaluated.”

“Kaala would be one of my top two instructors who has trained for KCC since I started in 1991, 19 years ago. I think one of his main strengths is his very strong rapport with his participants. He can connect with them almost instantly since he can talk about fishing and surfing with some participants, and he can talk about his family, his children, and his work as a minister with the others. He has been able to bring home complex concepts like the Herzberg’s Theory of Motivation into simple ideas such as: the Maintenance  Factors such as salary, fringe benefits, supervision, and appropriate working conditions are like rice during a party- good to have and is expected to be present but not a strong reason to rave about the party. However, if rice is absent (or salary is low and benefits are not competitive) then the people will be dissatisfied.

Motivational Factors like achievement, responsibility, recognition, and opportunities to advance he likens to the steak, the lobsters, and the chocolate cake in a party- if they are not present, people are not going to complain but if they are present, people will rave about the party. In a work setting, they will be motivated to go the extra mile.”

I’m finally catching up with my regular work – and I wanted to drop you a line to say thank you!Bob Hiam was correct – you were a perfect match for our department!

Your down to earth, local style, great humor and ability to connect with our employees made the short time together outstanding. The positive comments I’ve heard from the management team and employees far surpass any evaluation rating form that other speakers pass out at the end of their presentations! You truly have a natural gift to motivate and enrich peoples lives, their family, community and career.

I look forward to working with you again either with our management team or with our whole department.
